Auditions
Prepare to sing with OYC.
The audition helps the director learn about each singer as a person and musician and make an appropriate ensemble and voice-part placement.
Audition Components
1. Vocalizations
Director-led exercises at the piano.
2. Tonal Memory
Hear notes or a short pattern and sing them back.
3. Rhythmic Sight Reading
Sight-read a four-measure rhythmic passage in 4/4 time.
4. Melodic Sight Reading
Sight-read a four-measure melody. The source guide lists major keys of C, D, F, or G and basic note values.
5. Song of Your Choice
Prepare a short excerpt that lets the director hear you sing comfortably and confidently.
